Dear Sisters and Brothers:
It seems like every time we look at the paper or watch the news, we are seeing another story about a shooting somewhere. It’s as if almost daily we are reaching out to Union leadership around the country to learn if our members are directly impacted by the latest shooting. We say “directly impacted” because any of us may be affected dependent on our past life experiences.
Before we go any further, let us clarify, we have no position or opinion on gun control, 2nd Amendment, or any of the other hot button political issues surrounding this subject. Our concern is the mental health and well-being of our members and their families. This link provides a wealth of information: https://www.samhsa.gov/find-help/disaster-distress-helpline/coping-tips.
The DL 142 EAP Program is here for you and your family to help with this or any other life or behavioral health issue that you and or your family may be concerned about. The personal contact info for our EAP Director, Paul Shultz, is: cell # 704.907.3563 and email [email protected].
Please call, text, or email about any issue you may have, or if you would just like to talk. If it is important to you, it is important to us. Fraternally
Sincerely,
John M. Coveny, Jr.
